A Viable Solution to Keep Coolant Sumps Clean

CPS for Single Sumps

The self-priming air operated pump pulls the tramp oil/coolant mixture from the surface of the sump through the floating inlet device, then through a cartridge filter which removes any chips from the fluid. The oil/coolant mixture is then pumped through the proprietary all-plastic separator element immersed in a separator tank. The cleaned coolant continuously returns to the sump. The oil layer collects on the top of the separator tank and is occasionally drained into a waste oil container, by simply opening the oil drain valve. To clean the coalescing pack, simply unthread the disc pack from the coupling and wash. Then re-assemble.

 Coolant Processing Systems - Single Sump

CPS for Multiple Sumps - Portable Systems

A portable Coolant Process System can clean a sump in to 4 hours, and then may be moved to another sump location and set up in minutes. A typical sump can be cleaned once a week. A single CPS unit can clean two sumps in a single shift, or 10 sumps per week in a one shift 5-day operation.

The CPS model is selected based on:
  • the size of sumps to be cleaned
  • the relative volume of tramp oil to be removed
  • the quantity of suspended solids in the sumps

Each separator is supplied with three inlet devices which can access the surface of any sump through an opening as small as 3" diameter. The self-priming air operated pump pulls the tramp oil/coolant mixture from the surface of the sump via the inlet device, then through a high capacity bag filter, which removes chips from the fluid. The oil/coolant mixture is then pumped through a proprietary all-plastic separator element immersed in a separator tank. The cleaned coolant continuously returns to the sump. The oil layer collected on top of the separator tank can be drained into a waste oil container by opening the oil drain valve, usually once per day. To clean the coalescing pack, simply unthread the disk pack from the coupling and wash. Then re-assemble.
